Historic dinner at Salsta Castle 25/4
SVT's Historien om Sverige recorded the 18th century section on Salsta and the 17th century section of Historieätarnas likewise. But the castle's ancestry is older than that; now we go back to the Middle Ages, the most turbulent time at Salsta Castle, Saturday 25 April at 6pm there will be a Historical Dinner at Salsta Castle After dinner, you will have the opportunity to try 15th-century dances led by Annika Windahl and the dance group Branicula. Before dinner, at 5 pm, there is a performance about Katarina Jagellonica, by and with Victoria Enefors. This year marks 500 years since the birth of Katarina Jagiellonica — Polish-Lithuanian princess, Swedish queen and one of the most fascinating figures of the 16th century in Nordic and Central European history. At Salsta, the anniversary is celebrated through an evening where history, art and food come together in a cohesive whole. In the performance Katarina Jagiellonica herself comes forward and tells her life in I-form — about her childhood at the Polish court, about her marriage to Duke Johan, about her imprisonment on Gripsholm and about her role as queen in a country that became her new home. The show is based on historical sources and long-term research work on Katarina Jagiellonica's life and contemporary times. The performance takes place in historical costume, inspired by Katarina's own dress, and is performed with respect for the language, mentality and living conditions of the time. This is a unique opportunity to meet one of Sweden's queens not as an icon or symbol, but as a human being — with voice, memory and presence. Price is 840SEK/person. Children up to 15 years 740kr. Price for performance alone is 150 SEK.

A more beautiful world 26/9
*A more beautiful world - a musical journey with Astrid Lindgren as a guide! * The Andersons are the Dutch-Swedish duo that will make your heart dance! Since 2012, Anna Ågren and Roel Dullaart have charmed audiences in the Netherlands and, after moving to Uppsala in 2023, also audiences on Swedish stages. Critics have called their performing arts “rare beautiful” and “inspiring in a world where beauty is at stake”. Now they invite you to a fiery and humorous newly written theatre concert with Astrid Lindgren as the guiding light. They will take you to Dalagatan 46. Vasastan, Stockholm. Astrid Lindgren's mailbox. Thousands of letters have been printed there — with hopes, worries, hauntings and dreams. Astrid wasn't just a fairy tale. She was a kind of confessor for all of Sweden. Or for half the world, if you're to be careful. All her life she fought for a better world. And here we are now -- in the middle of it all -- with the big questions of life in your hands. And heart full of longing, for a more beautiful world. We sing. We'll tell you. We sometimes stumble upon the words -- We get up and sing along. Because the world is waiting. Each concert will also be accompanied by an exciting guest who, with his unique voice and expression — in film, art, literature, philosophy, theatre or poetry — gives the performance a glimpse of his own. Welcome to a theatrical concert that sneaks under your skin -- and stays put. Like a little revolution song in your pocket. *Learn more about the De Andersons and the performance at: * www.deandersons.com Before the performance, you have the opportunity to book dinner at 18.00. *Recommended age: * from 15 years *Organizer: * De Andersons in collaboration with Salsta Castle and with the support of the Cultural Council of Uppsala Municipality and Region Uppsala.
