A Song for Selma with Sofia Karlsson 18/4
A Song to Selma with Sofia Karlsson Sofia Karlsson will come to Salsta Castle in April 2026 for a magical evening in the spirit of Selma Lagerlöf! This unique evening you will not want to miss... Sofia Karlsson is an outstanding live performer, singer and instrumentalist. Many associate her with interpretations of Dan Andersson and, most recently, Selma Lagerlöf. Sofia Karlsson has won four Grammys in Sweden and two in Denmark, as well as many other fine awards. In 2025, her work on “A Song to Selma” was awarded the Selma Lagerlöf Society's scholarship. Sofia on “A Song for Selma”: “This is a tribute to the work and work of Selma Lagerlof. With great inspiration and joy, I have picked out parts and themes I love from Selma's work. Themes are always relevant to the industry, then as now. Because of that, I wanted to be in time, the time that is mine.” “The music I have written is freely based on Selma's compositions, speeches, poems and letters. From these, I have, with great inspiration, together with lyricist Johan Salberg, created songs. We have used original, but also changed, moved words, repeated, deleted, to the benefit of singability. I hope that the result will give people (beyond meanings, meaning and music joy!) a real entrance to Selma Lagerlof's great works and unique author's world.” Salsta Castle is more closely associated with the theme than many people know. The lyricist and initiator of “A Song to Selma”, Johan Salberg, strolled almost daily around Salsta Castle like Vattholmabo, with drafts of the songs in the lurkers, or in conversation with Sofia, or with paper and pen in a musical, literary, creative process that went on for several years. Johan is originally from Selmas Gösta Berling's surroundings in Fryksdalen and his paternal grandmother was Selma's chambermaid at Mårbacka.

Historic dinner at Salsta Castle 25/4
SVT's Historien om Sverige recorded the 18th century section on Salsta and the 17th century section of Historieätarnas likewise. But the castle's ancestry is older than that; now we go back to the Middle Ages, the most turbulent time at Salsta Castle, Saturday 25 April at 6pm there will be a Historical Dinner at Salsta Castle After dinner, you will have the opportunity to try 15th-century dances led by Annika Windahl and the dance group Branicula. Before dinner, at 5 pm, there is a performance about Katarina Jagellonica, by and with Victoria Enefors. This year marks 500 years since the birth of Katarina Jagiellonica — Polish-Lithuanian princess, Swedish queen and one of the most fascinating figures of the 16th century in Nordic and Central European history. At Salsta, the anniversary is celebrated through an evening where history, art and food come together in a cohesive whole. In the performance Katarina Jagiellonica herself comes forward and tells her life in I-form — about her childhood at the Polish court, about her marriage to Duke Johan, about her imprisonment on Gripsholm and about her role as queen in a country that became her new home. The show is based on historical sources and long-term research work on Katarina Jagiellonica's life and contemporary times. The performance takes place in historical costume, inspired by Katarina's own dress, and is performed with respect for the language, mentality and living conditions of the time. This is a unique opportunity to meet one of Sweden's queens not as an icon or symbol, but as a human being — with voice, memory and presence. Price is 840SEK/person. Children up to 18 years 740kr. Price for performance alone is 150 SEK.

The Decepticons at Salsta Castle with Afternoon Tea
An exciting activity in which some of the participants happen to be evil conspirators. Others have the task of pointing out who these are, before the conspirators have succeeded in their intent. The problem is that none of the faithful can trust any of the others, since all of them, of course, claim their own innocence. It's a lot like the traitors. However, unlike the Traitors, no one has to leave the castle prematurely, but the evicted has the opportunity to return to the competition. Several coups d'état in Sweden have involved the lord of Salsta Castle. In the 14th century, Abjörn Sixtensson Sparre of Tofte was involved in the rebellion of the dukes against King Birger Magnusson. In the 15th century, Jöns Bengtsson had Oxenstierna Salsta as his base when he overthrew King Karl Knutsson Bonde. In the 16th century, Nils Bielke the Elder played an important role when King Sigismund was deposed. In the 18th century, Erik Brahe was executed after his failed coup d'état attempt. And even more dramatically, Sten Oxenstierna's intrigue between the Sturas and the Union kings ended, when the medieval castle at Salsta was burned to the ground by Sten Sture the Younger. What is the next revolution to be planned from Salsta? The layout is such that you are divided into teams of 3-4 persons/teams, who then compete against each other in different missions around the castle. In each round, someone on the team then has a chance to win immunity. It is important to act first for the good of the team, and then for your own. Between these challenges, on the one hand, the conspirators must decide who to remove from the game, and on the other hand, everyone must vote on who is suspected to be part of the group of evildoers. However, no one needs to leave the event prematurely, but still has a task in the game. It is usually mainly adults who participate, but even young people appreciate the activity. However, children under the age of 10 may need the participation of an adult to join the tours. The event is suitable for both a company where everyone knows each other well, for example at a birthday party, bachelorette party or team building activity for the workplace, association or organization, and for a composite group where most people are unknown to each other. The game comes in two variants, one where Afternoon Tea is served with both tasty and sweet snacks, and one where coffee is not included (but of course can be purchased separately before the game starts). This date includes Afternoon Tea.
