SVT's Historien om Sverige recorded the 18th century section on Salsta and the 17th century section of Historieätarnas likewise. But the castle's ancestry is older than that; now we go back to the Middle Ages, the most turbulent time at Salsta Castle,
Saturday 25 April at 6pm there will be a Historical Dinner at Salsta Castle
After dinner, you will have the opportunity to try 15th-century dances led by Annika Windahl and the dance group Branicula.
Before dinner, at 5 pm, there is a performance about Katarina Jagellonica, by and with Victoria Enefors.
This year marks 500 years since the birth of Katarina Jagiellonica — Polish-Lithuanian princess, Swedish queen and one of the most fascinating figures of the 16th century in Nordic and Central European history. At Salsta, the anniversary is celebrated through an evening where history, art and food come together in a cohesive whole. In the performance Katarina Jagiellonica herself comes forward and tells her life in I-form — about her childhood at the Polish court, about her marriage to Duke Johan, about her imprisonment on Gripsholm and about her role as queen in a country that became her new home. The show is based on historical sources and long-term research work on Katarina Jagiellonica's life and contemporary times. The performance takes place in historical costume, inspired by Katarina's own dress, and is performed with respect for the language, mentality and living conditions of the time. This is a unique opportunity to meet one of Sweden's queens not as an icon or symbol, but as a human being — with voice, memory and presence.
Price is 840SEK/person. Children up to 18 years 740kr. Price for performance alone is 150 SEK.
